Mixed Reality in the Museum: An Introduction to the Microsoft HoloLens

On September 25th, Microsoft Technical Evangelist Amanda Lange visited the Penn Museum to demonstrate the Microsoft HoloLens and discuss its potential applications in museums. Approximately 30 members of the Penn community attended the event and were given an opportunity to demo the device.

This event afforded attendees a unique opportunity: seeing and interacting with holograms with one of the Penn Museum’s most distinctive galleries as a backdrop. We hope that, moving forward, mixed reality technology can be used to create a similarly immersive experience for a wider array of museum-goers.
